ElliptiGO bikes use industry-standard components that can be repaired or serviced by a technician who is trained to service bicycles. The custom parts are the frame, steering column, drive arms and adjustable crank assembly, which can also be repaired or replaced by a trained bicycle technician. Depending on your region, there may be a designated service location or we will work with you to find a resource in your area who is willing to service or repair your ElliptiGO bike. Guidelines for ElliptiGO Service: 

• Many locations require appointments so please contact the service location to schedule your bike service.
• Be sure to ask about lead times, but you should expect to leave your ElliptiGO bike for anywhere from 1-10 business days. Plan accordingly if you have a known deadline or event for which you need your ElliptiGO bike.
• Not all service locations will stock replacement parts and very few have ElliptiGO specific parts. While all service locations can order parts from ElliptiGO directly, it’s best to plan ahead. If you know what parts need replacing, please order those ahead of time from our website and bring them with you at the time of service.

Like any bicycle or other piece of fitness equipment, your ElliptiGO bike must be properly maintained to give you the best performance. For long-stride bikes: cleaning the tracks and load wheels before or after every ride. For all bikes: ensuring the chain is lubricated, the tires are properly inflated, the brakes are functioning correctly, and all of the other components are working properly will help ensure a smooth operating performance. The lifespan of any given component on your bike depends on a range of factors, including rider weight, frequency of riding, duration of rides, riding surface, style and intensity of riding, climatic conditions when riding and in storage, and diligence with maintenance and servicing. Certain parts, such as brakes, tires, tubes, rims and cables will likely wear more quickly than others, like the tracks and load wheels, hubs and fork. We have prepared a Service Guide to provide some insight into when you should expect to replace the various parts.

Finding your Serial Number

Long Stride Elliptical Bikes (3C, 8C, 8S, 11R)
Long Stride bikes are characterized by a long base with two tracks running along its sides. The pedals roll along these tracks and move in an elliptical motion.

• If the gear indicator shows a 1, 2 and 3, then you have a 3C model.
• If the gear indicator shows a 1, 4 and 8, then you have either an 8C or 8S model. If the steering column folds, you have an 8S; if it does not, you have an 8C.
• If the gear indicator shows a 1, 6 and 11, then you have an 11R model.

The serial number is an 8-digit located on the round tube, between the rear wheel and the kickstand, just below the ElliptiGO patent stamp as shown in the photo.

Compact Stride Elliptical Bikes (Arc 3, Arc 8, Arc 24)
Compact Stride bikes have the word “Arc” on the bike frame, near the rear wheel.

• If the gear indicator shows a 1, 2 and 3, then you have an Arc 3 model.
• If the gear indicator shows a 1, 3, 6 and 8, then you have an Arc 8 model.
• If you have two gear selector units (left and right), you have an Arc 24.

The serial number is an 8-digit number located on the top of the frame, towards the rear wheel by the chain keeper as shown in the photo.

The Stand Up Bike (SUB, RSUB, MSUB)
The Stand Up Bike will have “SUB” decal on the rear frame by the rear wheel.

The serial number is an 8-digit number found on the top of frame near the chain keeper and will be an 8 digit number as shown in the photo.

The serial number is located on the back of the rear resistance wheel. Enter the entire serial number as shown (example: T20001050).

We’ve found that very few people are unable to ride a stand up bike the first time they get on it. Like anything new and different, it may take a few minutes to get used to, but it’s easy to ride and very stable. Watch one of our many riding videos to learn more.

Riding an ElliptiGO bike in urban areas is no different than riding a bicycle. The advantage that ElliptiGO bikes have over traditional bicycles is that you have an elevated line of sight, giving you better visibility, making it easier for pedestrians, drivers and other cyclists to see you.

Much like the standard brakes on road and mountain bikes, the braking system on your ElliptiGO bike consists of hand levers that actuate brakes on the front and rear wheels. You may have rim or disc brakes depending on the bike model you choose.

You can change gears by using a trigger shifter located on the handlebars.

ElliptiGO bikes can be ridden using almost any closed-toed shoe that does not have a high-heel. We recommend wearing running shoes because they are comfortable and tend to breathe well.

Riders between 4’11” to 6’8″ (1.5 m to 2.0 m) can enjoy ElliptiGO bikes.

This can be done in many ways.  If fully replacing run workouts, you can replicate those workouts on the ElliptiGO bike by using time and effort as your workout indicators.  To add volume to an existing training plan, ElliptiGO can be added onto the end of a run as an “ElliptiGO” chaser, or extra ElliptiGO training sessions can be added as secondary recovery sessions to help flush the body and better prepare the athlete for their next running workout. ElliptiGO long-stride models are equipped with a very stable, double-leg kickstand. Although it may be tempting, it is important that you DO NOT stand on the bike while it is on the kickstand. The kickstand is not designed to support more than the weight of the bike. Standing on the bike with the kickstand down can damage both the frame and kickstand, thus voiding your warranty.

Compact-stride and SUB models are equipped with a traditional kickstand.

All ElliptiGO stand up bikes are designed for and will perform on paved surfaces. Though, the only ElliptiGO bike built for off-road riding is the MSUB.

Yes, we recommend our Fluid 365 indoor trainer to use with your model ElliptiGO to ride year-round. This trainer will fit all our models and we have several support videos that demonstrate how to use this trainer and training programs.

Our bikes will fit on several standard roof, trunk and trailer hitch racks; however, they will not fit all of them. If you are considering a rack and have questions about whether it will fit your ElliptiGO bikes, please email us at [email protected].

Yes, we guarantee that ElliptiGO bikes will be free from manufacturing defects, including both workmanship and materials, for 5 years from the date of purchase on the frame; 2 years on the fork, drive arms, crank arms and steering column; and 1 year on all other components, paint and decals.

The Exercise and Physical Activity Resource Center at the University of California, San Diego conducted a metabolic study to determine how riding an ElliptiGO bike compares to running and traditional cycling. They determined that stand up cycling burns, on average, 33% more calories than riding a conventional bike at the same speed. The study also found that going 16.5mph on an ElliptiGO bike was equivalent in effort to running at an 8 minute per mile pace.

Not at all. In fact, stand up bikes are sort of the opposite of recumbents. Recumbent bikes usually have a pretty big seat with a back rest, whereas stand up bikes have no seat at all. Recumbent riders pedal with their legs parallel to the ground, while stand up bike riders pedal with legs that are perpendicular to the ground. The recumbent rider’s visibility is usually limited because they are lower to the ground, making it both harder to see them and harder for them to see around obstacles like cars, bushes, walls, etc. In contrast, the stand up bike rider’s visibility is unusually good because their line of sight is elevated and their whole body is visible, making them easier for drivers, pedestrians and other cyclists to see. The high riding position also enables a stand up cyclist to see over cars, trucks and SUVs, reducing the likelihood that they will have their vision blocked by obstacles. Finally, the recumbent bike rider pushes pedals in a circle to propel their bike while the stand up bike rider takes strides that are similar to walking or running to propel the bike forward.

The stride length is the linear distance a point on a rider’s foot travels during the power stroke of the pedaling motion. ElliptiGO elliptical bikes have a longer stride length than most indoor elliptical trainers, and it is adjustable out to 25″ or down to 16″. We have found that the longer stride length makes the riding experience feel more like running.

One of the things we noticed when using an elliptical machine was that the drive arms seemed to be spaced further apart than our feet would be when running. We measured several elliptical trainers and they had widths of up to 11″ between the centerline of the drive arms. We designed our bikes to provide the least amount of distance we could between the foot platforms. As a result, the distance between the centerline of each drive arm is about 9-inches, and the space between the inside edges of each foot platform is about 3.5-inches. We believe that this narrower design contributes to the running-like experience.
