How did you first hear of ElliptiGO? I discovered ElliptiGO via the web in Spring, 2018 while looking for outdoor aerobic alternatives after my knee gave up the ghost eliminating running and road bike alternatives. I purchased a blue 2010 8S long stride and participated in the May, 2018 5 Boros ride in NYC.
Retired Navy helicopter pilot (30 years of service) and Department of Defense Civil Servant (15 years). Originally from Philadelphia, PA. BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia (’81); MBA, University of North Florida (’90); MS National Security, National War College (’12); EMT-B, Burke Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department; Coordinator for Christ Church Disaster Early Response Team (ERT). Married to Lori. Achieved Silver Medal status in 2019 and 2020 with the Global ElliptiGO Riders Club (GERC).
How Do You Use Your ElliptiGO For Fitness/Exercise? I ride 5-7 times per week for aerobic fitness as well as weight control. Typically, I ride local bike trails in Northern Virginia and participate in group rides up to metric centuries with other members of the Mid-Atlantic ElliptiGO Facebook group.
What do you love most about riding an ElliptiGO? I love riding my ElliptiGO because it is an outstanding full body exercise with none of the joint abuse from other outdoor aerobic tools.
What is your favorite ElliptiGO bike?
I admit it, I’m a long stride snob, riding the outstanding local NOVA trails system, with intermittent MSUB wildness on local single track and gravel. I own 2 11R’s and an 8S along with an MSUB and a SUB.
What is your favorite local ride?
We’ve created an annual Gathering of the GOes associated with the annual DC Bike Ride. We’ve been able to gather up to 30 local riders to take over the Washington and Old Dominion (W&OD) trail.
What is your longest or most memorable ride?
My first NYC 5 Boros in 2018 introduced me to a crew group of ElliptiGO diehards, as well as Bryan Pate and the ElliptiGO HQ team.
