On Saturday, May 17, 2025, Teresa Fukumoto-Beebe made ElliptiGO history, smashing the Women’s 24-hour Elliptical Bike Record with 307 miles ridden at Calvin’s Challenge in Ohio, sanctioned by the World Ultra-Cycling Association. The previous record of 269.74 miles was held by long-time ElliptiGO customer and elite marathoner Tera Moody.
Riding through grueling wind for more than half the day, Teresa didn’t just survive the challenge, she owned it.
“That wind was brutal!! One of the hardest things I have done, mostly because of the conditions,” she shared. “Instead of getting frustrated or mad at the wind, I embraced the fact it was windy. I knew if I got mad, it was only going to generate negative emotions I didn’t want.”
This focused mindset carried Teresa through one of the most demanding efforts of her athletic journey. Behind her achievement was a deep well of self-discipline, preparation and community support.
“I feel my self-discipline and determination helped me to train and prepare adequately,” she said. “I couldn’t have done this without the support and belief of others.”
This is far from Teresa’s first time making headlines. She was named 2024 Rider of the Year and holds the world record for the fastest female 100-mile ride on an ElliptiGO bike (6:11:49). She was also the top female finisher at the 2023 ElliptiGO World Championships.
Teresa’s story is one of persistence and reinvention. After a mysterious leg issue sidelined her from the running world she once dominated — including qualifying for the Boston Marathon — she found new purpose and possibility on an ElliptiGO bike. What started as a borrowed ride in 2017 has become a full-blown passion, with four ElliptiGO bikes in her stable today.
Her latest world record didn’t come from chance — it came from consistent, intentional training and a deep trust in herself.
“You never know what kind of hiccups will come on race day,” Teresa said, “but I never lost hope that my training prepared me for anything.”
