July 2014 Rider of the Month

July 2014 Rider of the Month, Keri Cleeremans Keri Pitman
On July 12th, Keri became the first woman to complete the Death Ride on an ElliptiGO. Located in the stunning California Alps, the Death Ride® course is 129 miles long with over 15,000 ft. of climbing over five mountain passes. This super-challenging course includes climbing both sides of Monitor Pass, both sides of Ebbetts Pass, and a final climb up the east side of Carson Pass. Congratulations on this monumental achievement, Keri!

Quick Facts About Keri

1. How long have you been riding an ElliptiGO and what model did you ride on for the Death Ride?
I have been riding the ElliptiGO for just over 3 years. I chose the 11R for the Death Ride due to the gearing as it gives me an optimal range for climbs, flats and descents. Plus, the carbon fiber drive arms made for a more comfortable long day of riding!

2. What inspired you to tackle the Death Ride?
I had initially planned this epic ride to be on my bike, which I had upgraded and invested in, but while on a training ride a week before the Death Ride, I felt really under-trained. I had been riding the GO with a friend all through March and April in training for his epic ride, and then rode Every Day in May, so really, I felt stronger on the GO than on my bike. Plus, Bryan Pate telling me that I could potentially be the first female EGO rider to complete the ride made for a good final push! So I made a last-second comfort change and I’m totally glad I did.

3. What are your favorite events you’ve done on the ElliptiGO?
The Death Ride! While it was wicked hard, it was super beautiful. I also enjoyed the ElliptiGO Winter Classic in Phoenix, the ElliptiGO Double Weekend in Colorado, and the Rallies during our Championship weekends over the last couple of years. (I love meeting all the owners in person who I am in contact with only online or by phone usually.)

4. What’s your most memorable experience related to the ElliptiGO?
Finishing Pikes Peak during the ElliptiGO Double Weekend last year. I didn’t get to the top of Mt. Evans, so finishing Pikes was a huge accomplishment for me. That whole weekend of riding with customers and co-workers was amazing and challenging. I think last year will probably be one of the few times both events will ever be held back to back, so it was cool to be a part of that history!

5. What are your ElliptiGO-related goals for the next year?
Probably attempting to actually race Palomar. That mountain is my nemesis and I don’t do well on it, so it would be nice to put up a good time at the Championships while wearing my flip flops, of course!
